STIMULATING INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT IN PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS
ABSTRACT
Stimulating intellectual development in primary school pupils is a challenge for education in Cuba. It is based on a holistic understanding of education facing personal needs and social demands which require a constant innovation and updating of methods and procedures. Consequently, the development of pupils’ potentials is vital, both in the cognitive and emotional and motivational areas. This will allow pupils to improve cognitive activity for comprehending reality and solving tasks of increasing complexity by means of the appropriation of procedures for planning, mediating and self-orienting activity. Modeling stories is a powerful procedure for teaching, stimulating intellectual development in primary schools pupils.
